Dental Implants for Niagara Region Patients

Anyone missing one or more teeth understands how tooth loss can make you feel uncomfortable about smiling or eating in public. You may avoid social situations and as a result begin to feel isolated. Current dental implant treatments can change your life. From a single missing tooth to an entire set of teeth, dental implants restore your appearance, speech, nutrition, oral health, comfort, and self-esteem. At Village Square Dental Centre in Smithville, we provide dental implants and other treatments for patients in the Niagara Region. As an alternative to bridges, partials or complete dentures, implants offer a permanent, built-in solution to fully restore your smile!

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are the new standard of care for tooth replacement. They bond with healthy bone and provide permanent support for dental crowns and dentures. Dental implants look and feel like natural teeth and can last a lifetime.

Why Choose Dental Implants?

Crowns, bridges, and dentures address the short-term, cosmetic problem of missing teeth, but do nothing to stop bone loss. Crown & bridge dentistry requires grinding down healthy teeth, leaving them at much greater risk for cavities and tooth failure. Bridges do not stop bone loss. Dentures become uncomfortable and unstable over time as the jawbone shrinks, causing eating and speech problems. With dental implants, healthy teeth are not compromised. Dental implants, like natural teeth, stimulate the jaw and stop bone loss. Leading dental organizations recognize dental implants as the standard of care for tooth replacement.

Our Procedure

Our dentists will examine your mouth, and take x-rays of your mouth, jaw and teeth to find out if you have the bone density needed for an implant. If not, potential bone grafting might be required. At the first stage, we insert the implant into your jawbone beneath the gum tissue. Taking several months to heal, the implant will bond with the bone and attach to the gum.

At the second stage of surgery when your gum tissue has healed, our dentist will attach an abutment to the implant. Later, a fixed bridge is installed to help anchor your implant. Like natural teeth, implants need to be kept clean using a toothbrush and floss. Your dentist will show you the proper cleaning procedure for implants. Regular dental checkups are important so your dentist can make sure that your bite is right and that your implants are not loose.
